The Tejas Tattler
February 1999
It’s Time for Your Ideas!
If you haven’t heard yet, we’re holding a convention!
Okay, so that’s old news...
But one thing we must do is now is finalizing our workshop
schedule for the convention.
That’s where we come in: for our meeting please bring
3 ideas for a workshop. It may be one you’ve taken before, or one you might
wish you could take. Or one you just know that everyone else needs to see.
Is it about make-up? Or juggling? Or history? Or nuclear physics? Please
bring those ideas to the February meeting on Tuesday, February 2nd.
Okay, maybe not the physics one...
Don’t Miss the Workshop...
First, the Spring Workshop has been shifted from February
20th to April 10th. Grenda Walton is the chair for the workshop, with Chris
Oertel and Iwana Virgil as her assistant chairs. (I don’t know who the
table is.)
Current program for the workshops are make-up and costuming
(with Anastaia “Wee Zee” Schimdt demonstrating augusté, and Tricia
“Lollipop” Craft demo’ing whiteface. We’ll also have face-painting, juggling,
home-made magic, and balloons. This will be different from our fall workshop
in that it will be full hands-on, not just lecturing.
Time will be from 9am to 3pm. Cost will be $5 for club
members, $25 for non-members. Location? Well, we’re still working on that
one... But we’ll get back to you on that.

to e-mail or send photos to him for our website. Jeannie Williams arrived
with Mother and Daughter and we all sang Happy Birthday.
Trish Craft made a motion to
put forth a Bio on Jeannie for the "Ambassador Award" for all
the endless wonderful charity work she does. Mike Blanton seconded this
motion and the membership agreed. While we were on the subject Grenda Walton
suggested we have our own Award to be presented once a year to a member
with outstanding credentials. Anastasia seconded this and the membership
agreed, This was followed by a very funny five minutes trying to name the
award. "The Nose "The Snozzle" "Red Nose" etc etc.
WORKSHOP.
Ron Martin brought up the date
for the workshop February 20th,99. We realized too much time had gone by
and we hadn't book a hall. It was decided to change the date to April 10th
‘99.Mike Blanton would ask the church if we could have two rooms for this
event. Mike Stephens suggested we have a chairperson for this event.
Grenda Walton volunteered to be the chairperson and also stated that she
might not attend the event due to her work on Saturday but would have everything
arranged.
SUGGESTED WORKSHOP

Grenda will bring a mock up
program for discussion next meeting. Ron Martin made a motion for a sum
of $25.00 entree fee Jeannie seconded this and the membership agreed. The
event would be at 9 am to 4 pm event. Lunch break. Grenda made a motion
for Tejas Members to be free as they will all be helping out that day unless
we have to pay for the church, in this case we will all pay $5.00. This
was seconded by Trish and the membership agreed. Michelle will do
our publicity again and get us into the Dallas Morning News.
We our so happy that Mike came
through his surgery .
Respectfully submitted. Grenda

Convention Meetin’ Minutes
January 5th, 1999
Meeting was called to order
by Ron Martin 14 people present.
CONVENTION REGISTRATION: We
did not have a correct count at this time but it is about 16 people. We
discussed the logistics of future registration: First they will be received
by Trish Craft, a photocopy will be made of the checks, the checks will
then be banked and the copy sent to Rodney Farr who will be keeping the
convention books. The membership form will go to Michelle Bodnarchuk and
she will begin processing them.
FINANCE: A separate account
has been set up for TCA99 Convention.(DBA).
PROGRAM BOOK. No word
from Sadie Kuykerndall. Grenda Walton will check into this.
MAIL OUTS: Mike Stephens will
contact Mary Ann Beck or Kim Oxford for the data base of the address's
of T.C.A. Clowns so we may do a mail out.
DEALERS TABLES: Grenda Walton
made a motion to charge $60.00 for the first table $40.00 for additional
ones. This was seconded by Iwana Virgil, membership agreed. All correspondence
that Grenda had for Dealers/Workshops was passed on to Chris Oertel who
will continue with this committee.
GOODY BAGS: Michelle Bodnarchuk
reported we had lots of goodies. Ras & Gas a balloon company in Carrollton
has offered to give us 24 gross of balloons and will put them in
200 smaller bags. A mention of thanks will be placed in the program
book. When we have all the goodies we will have a meeting at Michelle's
house and stuff bags.
WORKSHOP IDEAS: Tricia Craft
made a suggestion that all member submit at least five good ideas on workshops
for convention. The list could be e-mail to Mike or brought to the meeting
February.
ADVERTS: Mike Stephens gave
out the form for adverts with costs etc. Grenda Walton will call all advertisers
from the 1998 Convention book.
SOUND SYSTEM: Chris Oertel
will find out what sound system we will need for workshops etc.
VIDEO: The video from the 1997
convention was viewed by Trish Craft, Michelle Bodnarchuk and the report
was they did not like the way the video was filmed. We will therefore find
a new video person. Mike Stephens will ask Agnes Donnelly
if she know anyone . She is also interested in doing the photography.
T-SHIRTS: Trish Craft suggested
asking Joey to the World if we could sell some t-shirts and also distribute
flyer pertaining to the convention in Houston January 22nd.
Meeting came to a close at
7.40pm.
Respectfully submitted.
